Quick and Yummy Pasta Dish

I am a lover of all pastas! Here is a fairly quick and easy dish that you can change up with different vegetables, pastas and add chicken if you wanted! It's very yummy and with all of the vegetables, healthy too!
It feeds about 4-8 people (depending on how many helpings/portion size).

Combine box of angel hair noodles (or fettuccine or spaghetti-depending on what you have) and 2 cans of sodium free chicken broth (you can use regular chicken broth) and add a cup of water in pot with a dash of salt and pepper, boil as directed on noodles package (usually around 8 minutes-Al dente).

In a large sauce pan combine:

Two Tablespoons of Olive Oil
1 cup of spinach leaves
3/4 cup of mushrooms (canned, if fresh 1 cup).
1/2 cup of grape tomatoes (halved)
1/2 tsp of minced garlic
1/4 cup of chopped onion
1/4 cup of sodium free chicken broth
Sea Salt (or salt) and Ground Pepper to taste

If you don't have spinach - use fresh broccoli or fresh asparagus (my fave) - still yummy:) And you could also add a cup of cooked chopped chicken to the sauteed vegetables.

Saute all ingredients for 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Pasta should be drained and cooling now.

Pour Pasta in sauteed vegetables and pull through/mix lightly.

Grate Fresh Parmesan Cheese over and VOILA!

Serve with garlic bread.

Keepsake Fairy Dust and Pixie Dust

How to Make: Keepsake Fairy Dust and Pixie Dust

These are so much fun to make (very easy) and little ones (even big girls) love them!

Here are the items you will need: Non Toxic Glitter (any color), Glass Jars (small, medium, large - any style type of your choice - just make sure they have some sort of cork/lid on top), Funnel (I make mine from paper), Tacky Glue, Round Stickers-the ones shown are 3M 1 1/2" Diameter Labels, Ribbon (can be fabric or paper), and Scissors. Oh - not pictured above - but I usually use a measuring cup to pour glitter into funnel and jar.

Take glass jar and open up lid or cork. Using funnel, pour glitter into jar leaving a little room at top to move around. If you are using jar with a cork, take tacky glue and put around bottom of cork (glue about 1/2 way up cork). Press cork into jar and push down (this will seal and make it "keepsake," so it doesn't open and get all over). Let dry. For round stickers - I use 1 1/2" diameter round labels. You can go into clipart (or other areas you have pictures) and choose a picture for your design and then set up through your computer (according to size/brand #) and print out. Each sticker can be used on the bottles. Cut ribbon and wrap around top of jar and tie in a bow or knot.

You have completed your very own Keepsake Pixie Dust or Fairy Dust bottle!

These are fun to put in birthday treat bags or for small presents, holidays, etc. Girls love them!

Magical Poof Wands and Princess Poof Wands

I started making these wands for my daughter and her friends and then made them for the princess gift shop I used to lease space in for birthday parties, etc. They are a lot of fun to make and kids love them!

So, today I am going to show you how to make fun, princess poof wands!

Here are the items you will need:

Fabric ribbon 1/4", 12" wooden dowel. hot glue gun, tulle, wrapping paper ribbon, tacky glue, non toxic paint, paint brush, Clover pom-pom maker (size x-large) -**you could use a smaller pom-pom maker, this is just the size I used.

Now, you can either paint (easiest) your wooden dowel or wrap in ribbon.
.

If you choose to paint, put on a coat, let dry and then put on a second coat, let dry (this would be the easiest and less time consuming).

For ribbon: Start at one end of dowel and cover in tacky glue until half way down dowel. Take choice of fabric ribbon and start at top and wrap around dowel slowly. Once you have wrapped half way down take tacky glue and cover the rest of the dowel and then wrap ribbon until you reach the bottom. I usually paint the bottom of the dowel at one end. Let ribbon dry for a few hours or even overnight, if you have the time. I had to practice this quite a bit. You want the ribbon to lay correctly, so you have to wrap at an angle all the way down.

To make the Magical "Poof" take the pom-pom maker and wrap the tulle around one side. Once you have about a 1/4"-1/2" thickness cut and close. Then complete the other half. You then close both ends of the pom-pom maker and cut the top halves on each side. Take a long piece of ribbon and wrap tightly around the entire tulle/pom-pom maker and tie tightly into a knot. Open up pom-pom maker sides and pull out tulle and "Voila" your Magical Poof will appear!

Now, once your "Poof" is complete, put hot glue on the knotted ribbon area of "Poof" and then attach to non painted end of your ribbon or painted dowel. Firmly set for a few minutes and then let dry for a half hour. For more color and frill, you can also add more curling ribbon (see below) or a fake string of pearls or fabric ribbon and hot glue this to bottom of the knotted "poof" and dowel.

Your Magical Princess "Poof" Wand is complete!

This project is great to do with your friends or your kids (even boys love them) and a perfect project for a birthday party - I suggest having the dowels already painted the night before and then depending on how many kids, either make the poof parts ahead and have them choose the colors and extra ribbon and pom-poms to glue on. Of course, when using a hot glue gun - have an adult attach these parts for the children.

"Slop" Recipe - My husband's Favorite!

I received this recipe from my mother-n-law. She made it for him when he was a boy. I believe she called it Tater Tot Casserole (sounds more appropriate) but we always like to change things up and my husband titles it "Slop" because it's a big mess and he absolutely loves it. What's not to love - meat, potatoes, cheese? And it's quick and easy!

Slop Recipe:

1.5lbs - 2lbs. ground beef (hamburger, or you can substitute with turkey burger, which I do often).
1 small onion (or substitute with dried, minced onions-see label for amount)
1 can of cream of mushroom soup (or 98% fat free mushroom soup)
1 soup can of milk
1 can of mushrooms (large or small, depending on what you prefer - or none:)
1 bag of tater tots
8oz. of mozzarella cheese
Salt/Pepper
9 x 13 pan

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
Flatten hamburger or turkey burger on the bottom of pan
Add onions all over
Spread Cream of Mushroom Soup over top, then pour 1 soup can of milk over it (or mix both together and put in - either way).
Add mushrooms (layer)
Add 1 bag of tater tots (layer on top)
Add a dash of salt and pepper
Put in oven for 1 hour
Add mozzarella cheese and melt (not too long!)

Let cool a little and cut! Ta-Da! Yummy, Cheesy, "Slop" Casserole! My daughter likes ketchup with it and so do I!

Cake Pops

My sister is having her first baby girl and I am going to make "Cake Pops" for her baby shower

(or purchase, whichever turns out better!).

My daughter and her girl friend and myself decided to make them today. I recently reviewed a few blogs and I purchased the Cake Pops book from Bakerella. I know I won't be able to make the intricate and beautiful Cake Pops that Bakerella has in her book (I'm not the best at decorating cakes, etc.) but I thought, maybe something simple and I wanted to find out how they taste too!

We decided that we would take the easy route for our first try and I purchased a boxed cake, can of chocolate frosting, white and pink chocolate melts, lollipop sticks, decorative frosting and gel frosting for decorating, and a styrofoam block.

The steps were pretty easy and a lot of fun and really, really messy (so a lot of fun for kids)!

1) Bake chocolate cake (follow directions) and let cool. I bought devils food chocolate cake.

2) Put cake in bowl and completely crumble with, yes, your hands!

3) Mix 1/2 of the chocolate frosting in with cake (again, with your hands) and turn into a large, round ball.

4) Roll into 30-40 1 inch balls and set on Pam sprayed tin foil.

5) Melt a bag of chocolate frosting melts (follow bag directions, so you don't burn frosting).

6) Dip your lollipop sticks in the frosting to act as "glue" and push into 1 inch balls.

7) Let the sticks dry in the balls for about 5 -10 minutes.

8) Make sure chocolate melts are stirred and ready for dipping, then dip/roll the balls in the frosting melts and then set in styrofoam block.

9) Decorate with whatever you want to add to it, colored frosting, sprinkles, etc.

10) Put in fridge for 15 minutes and they are ready to eat!

Really, really messy & and a lot of fun, very sweet too!

I thought this was a great way to spend the day with kids who love to experiment and bake! I think for my sister's shower I will make them and decorate with just a light pink frosting and put them in tin pots, with styrofoam and put pink paper grass in them, so they look like spring bouquets. The Cake Pops are pretty sweet tasting with all of the frosting in them, so if you have a sweet tooth, you'll love them! Very moist too! There are many different cake options to choose from too, I may go with the red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting next time I try these. Just google Cake Pops to see the many options to choose from.

I absolutely love these pettiskirts! Not your every day purchase, here! They are so full and fluffy I could barely wrap it in a box for my friend's daughters birthday! The Weekend is Upon Us!

Yes, it's Friday! Time to relax, lay around, read a good book and bathe in the sunlight...Yeah, right! I wish! My daughter just got out of school for the summer and all we have done is run, run, run! Oh but it's so much fun! Today I am doing a little of this and a little of that. A little housework, a little business and hopefully a little out to dinner tonight! Looking into some new items for fall and a few more for Christmas (I know it's only June 11) but planning ahead to get the "good stuff" is key! I'm hoping to have some really cute new fun clothing for the store and website and I will tell you more about it when it comes in!
